D. CATEGORIES OF COMPETITON AND CLASS ELIGIBILTY

CATEGORY 3

YOUTH (10 & UNDER SHORT STIRRUP) – Open to any Youth rider who is age 10 or under on January 1 of the current NRHA year.  This class is to be run with the Short Stirrup pattern (Pattern 11) only.  Riders may use a horse without the restrictions of ownership for Youth classes as defined in the Youth Conditions.  This class will not count for Top Ten standings.  There will be no penalty for holding the saddle with either hand.  The rider may ride with standard reins, or with any type of closed reins.

YOUTH ROOKIE (18 & Under) – Open to any youth rider who has not earned more than twenty-five (25) points in NRHA Youth classes at the start of the NRHA year.  Riders may use a horse without the restrictions of ownership for Youth classes as defined under Youth Conditions.  Will not count toward Top Ten Standings.  Youth Rookie may be run concurrent only with Youth classes.

UNRESTRICTED YOUTH – Open to Youth members 18 & under.  Rider may use a horse without the restrictions of ownership as defined under the Youth Conditions.  However, if he/she does show a horse not owned by him/her or by an immediate family member in this class, he/she will not be eligible to show any horse in any Non Pro/Rookie class at the same show.  Youth showing their own horse remain eligible for the Non Pro classes, provided they meet the normal Non Pro requirements.  This class will not count for Top Ten standings.  It may be run concurrent only with Youth classes.

O. YEAR-END AWARDS

            (4) A Top Ten record will be kept for Youth Rookie, Unrestricted Youth and 10 & Under Short Stirrup. Year End awards will be given to the World Championship, Reserve World Championship and places 3 – 10.
