B. APPROVED YOUTH REININGS

(5)  Regular youth reinings are those offering the official NRHA plaque, a minimum of 6 ribbons 10 awards, and points only.  There will be a entry fee of no more than $10.00 in all regular Youth reinings.

Intent of Proposal (include additional pages as necessary):

The NRHA Youth Committee believes the current rule under Show Rules & Regulations is not followed by many show organizers.  The NRHA Youth Committee believes that it is important to provide recognition of youth placing in addition to youth points awarded by NRHA.  By simply requiring awards for 10 places, show organizers retain the decision making as to the type and cost of the awards.  The Youth Committee believes providing 10 awards is consistent with the NRHA Youth Point Scale which provides points for up to ten places.  (Please refer to page 50 in the 2008 Handbook.)

Additionally, by eliminating the requirement for providing ribbons, the NRHA Youth Committee believes show organizers will have the opportunity to use remaining awards at a different events when 10 places does not occur, instead of having “leftover” ribbons.
