NRHA Professionals Conditions
(1)
An NRHA Professional shall be defined as a person who has
received or is receiving directly (money) or indirectly (goods or
services) remuneration for showing, training or assisting in the
training of any horse ridden astride regardless of discipline or
breed. An NRHA Professional shall be further defined as a person
who has given or currently gives lessons for remuneration.
Advertising as a trainer/instructor in NRHA media requires
membership in the NRHA Professionals.
a)
An applicant must complete the official NRHA Professional
Application, and submit it to the NRHA office with the
appropriate fee along with their NRHA membership renewal.
b)
Persons applying for Professional status must answer all
questions on the NRHA Professional Application, agree to abide
by the Professional Code of Conduct and Ethics, and sign the
Application affirming the truth of all statements given as well
as acceptance of the rules and regulations relating to NRHA
Professional Membership.
c)
A Professional card is a privilege and not a right. The
Professional Committee will screen all applicants. The
Professional Committee can require at any time a Professional to
submit his/her card for review of applicability. The
Professional Committee can refuse a Professional card to anyone
deemed not in compliance with the eligibility criteria set forth
in the NRHA Handbook.
d)
An applicant must complete and submit a Professionals
Application and submit a $50 annual fee prior to entering a NRHA
Approved Class. Professional status will be granted on a
temporary basis and is subject to revocation pending publication
in the NRHA Reiner and approval by the Professionals Committee.
Professional status will be null and void and any Professional
earnings and prizes will be forfeited if it is determined that
the applicant is not eligible under the NRHA Professional
conditions, as defined in the NRHA Handbook. Failure to comply
with the application requirement as specified in this Handbook
may result in disciplinary action.
(3) Relinquishing NRHA
Professional Status: A Professional that gives up his/her
Professional status and becomes a Non Pro must notify the NRHA
office in writing within thirty (30) days of the change. If a
mandatory waiting period is required by the Non Pro Committee, then
the rider can show in Open Classes for which he/she is eligible by
paying the Professionals membership dues. The Professionals
Committee will notify the Non Pro Committee that NRHA Professionals
status was granted for showing purposes only and the Non Pro
applicant will not be published as a member of NRHA Professionals on
the website or in the Reiner.
Intent of
Proposal (include additional pages as necessary):
The intent is that the NRHA along with the Professionals Committee
can monitor persons applying for a Professionals Card to uphold the
standards as well as ethics of a NRHA Professional.

CURRENTLY, MEMBERS OF THE PRO-MANDATORY
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP ARE LOBBYING FOR REGIONAL DIRECTORS
POSITIONS AND ARE TAKING ON OTHER POLITICALLY ACTIVE ROLLS.
WHILE THIS IS THE ENCOURAGED RIGHT OF EVERY NRHA MEMBER,
PROFESSIONAL OR NOT, THE RISK HERE IS THAT BY MANDATING NRHA
PROFESSIONALS MEMBERSHIP, A FEW HIGH PROFILE TRAINERS MAY BE
UNJUSTLY CLAIMING TO REPRESENT ALL PROFESSIONALS, WHETHER
THEY ARE SUPPORTED BY THE MAJORITY OF NRHA TRAINERS OR NOT.
