A. Judging Privileges

(2) Approval and Testing:

(f) Every new judge must judge at least one (1) Blossom level event per year during the first two years of his judging privileges. The judge fee to be paid by the show management of this event may not exceed an amount to be set by the Judges Committee.

Intent of Proposal (include additional pages as necessary):

1.      Main reason for renaming the levels of shows instead of “B”, “A” or ”AA” is the fact that people without show management experience do hardly understand the difference between these kind of shows. For example at dressage riding they have also names for the classes like Grand Prix etc. It is much easier to promote.

2.      Adding a new smaller format and entry level of show will help to make it interesting for show managements formerly doing not approved shows to run their show under the roof of the NRHA. The financial risk is more limited and usually these shows will grow into the higher levels soon. If you can offer enough of these shows it will an easier decision for beginners to be NRHA members. In times where it is difficult to raise some money from sponsors the NRHA should not only support the High End market but also remember the grass roots of reining. This kind of show could also much easier be combined with breed shows (AQHA, APHA) who pretend organizing approved NRHA shows because of the added money. We must find a way to give those beginner level people an offer to enter NRHA they can’t deny.

3.      It is more interesting for a show management of an entry level show to hire new judges when the judge get paid for example.$ 200 or just 50% of the ususal daily judging fee. On the other side the new judges get a chance to gain show experience.
