Proposed Change: 41-01-09

(9) A.  A rider may not show more than three (3) horses…….

      B.  A rider may not show more than two (2) horses in a Category 2 or Category 6 class if the added money for the Open and Non pro divisions combined is more than $100,000.

Intent of Proposal (include additional pages as necessary):

By limiting the number of horses shown by an exhibitor in our major events it will open spots in the finals that currently monopolized by a small percentage of the trainers and elite Non Pros in the NRHA.  This will encourage more people to enter their horses, which would help accomplish one of the priorities for 2008 as outlined in the President’s Address from the 2008 NRHA convention, to improve aged events.

Since the NRHA Futurity is the signature event for our organization, it must continue to grow.  The common thought is that by adding more money that it will increase participation.  That alone won’t do it.  However, by increasing the chances of different trainers, Non Pros and owners to make the finals will increase participation.
