A PLAN APART REVISED 1-10-08

VIEW THE POLL

THE IDEA: A separate purse/incentive for any aged event reining horse.  NOTE: This is in addition to, not in place of, the existing Sire & Dam Program.  The current Sire & Dam remains as is.

AUTHOR: Liz Haverty; for questions or clarification, email haverty1@gte.net.

WHY:  Address the 3 major challenges currently facing the NRHA Futurity and Derby; increasing purses, increasing bottom end payouts, increase entries.

ADVANTAGES OF A PLAN APART:

+SIMPLICITY-ONE TIME PAYMENT

*This system does not have a lot of confusing deadlines nor does it require excessive paperwork for the foal owner or the office staff at NRHA

+VOLUNTARY, NOT MANDATORY PARTICIPATION

*The regular futurity/derby and the entry fee structure stays the same as it has always been and open to any three year olds!

+THIS PLAN IS DESIGNED TO INCREASE THE FUTURITY/DERBY PURSES

AND WILL THEREFORE MAKE ENROLLED FOALS MORE MARKETABLE

*This plan should grow steadily in popularity and participation as both nominators and

owners realize the benefits of it while not being forced on anyone

HYPOTHETICAL PURSES FOR ENROLLED FOALS:

1000 ENROLLED FOALS @ $300= $300,000

1500 ENROLLED FOALS @ $300= $450,000

2000 ENROLLED FOALS @ $300= $600,000

2500 ENROLLED FOALS @ $300= $750,000

*These figures do not represent any late fees or added interest

25% each to Intermediate and Intermediate Non Pro Divisions

10% each to Limited Open and Limited Non Pro Divisions
