  • United States NRHA Members account for 69.4% of total members

  • Canadian NRHA Members account for 7.3% of total members

  • International NRHA Members account for 21.8% of total members

  • According to numbers published, 242 members, or 1.5%, are unaccounted for

GENERAL NON PROFIT GUIDELINES OF PRACTICE

  • The American Bar Association's "Guide For Directors of Nonprofit Corporations" suggests that "the Nominating Committee should be composed of directors who do not participate in management and are free of relationships, both business and personal, that could interfere with their exercise of independent judgment."  

  • Note: NRHA’s 2007 Listing of Committees and Committee Members posted on the website and published in the Reiner magazine reveals that 15 of 25 NRHA Committees have Executive Board Members serving as Chair or Vice Chair of those committees. The Nominating Committee members are unlisted.

2006 NRHA GENERAL MEMBERSHIP ELECTION & VOTE: (General Membership Meeting Minutes, 10-5-06)

  • Out of over 13,000 total NRHA members, only 691 ballots were cast at the general election, which was open to the full membership.

  • Minutes of the committee and Full Board of Director meetings are published on the Members Only Section of the NRHA's website.  A membership number and pin are required.

  • Minutes of the Executive Board meetings are not published.

  • Pursuant to the rules, only the author/s, committee or staff who submitted the rule change may withdraw it.

  • Page 15 of the Rule book on General Rules, Section 2, "The NRHA Board of Directors may vote to approve, modify and approve, or recommend the rule change be reviewed by the appropriate committee(s) prior to the date of the vote."

  • AQHA's 2005 annual drug testing budget was almost $1 million; exhibitor cost - $3 per horse

  • California has a State mandated drug testing program in place; exhibitor cost - $5 per horse

  • The United States Equestrian Federation charged $7 per horse per show to fund its drug-testing program as of 2005
